As churches struggle with shrinking congregations and increasing operating and capital expenses, many congregations have looked to redeveloping their valuable real estate assets to ensure their long-term viability. This lecture will discuss the steps to a successful redevelopment project from preparing a mission plan through the construction process and beyond, including an in-depth look at various options and deal structures available to churches. It will also cover church best practices as well as how to avoid common pitfalls.

CBM&S welcomes associate Connor Dolgon
Associate Connor Dolgon focuses his practice on real estate and commercial litigation. He represents clients in all forms of commercial disputes, including breach of contract causes of action and landlord and tenant proceedings. He is experienced in all stages of litigation from drafting pleadings and conducting discovery through the preparation and argument of substantive and procedural motions, as well as trial and appeal. Connor was previously an associate at a law firm based on Long Island.
Mr. Dolgon is a graduate of Cardozo School of Law and earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Maryland. He is a member of the New York City Bar Association. Connor is also a member of New York County Lawyers Association (NYCLA), where he serves on the Young Lawyers Committee.

Yvonne Cort, a partner in the firm’s Taxation area, lectured on “Collateral Consequences of Not Paying Taxes: Passports, Driver’s Licenses at Risk”. The firm will celebrate QSAC’s 40th Anniversary of service to the community at their annual Gala, as Gold sponsors of the event. This year’s theme is Believe, and partner Gregory L. Matalon will have the honor of speaking and presenting the Howard J. Capell Award for Exceptional Service to honoree Larry Litwack, Esq.
This award honors the memory of founding partner Howard J. Capell, (December 31, 2017). Howie was a dedicated humanitarian and philanthropist and had served on the QSAC Board of Directors. Award recipient Larry Litwack, Esq. is being recognized for his six years of service as a QSAC Board Member and for his ongoing dedication to supporting the needs of children and adults with autism throughout New York City and Long Island.
Award presenter Gregory L. Matalon is a partner in the firm’s Estate Planning & Administration group who is committed to serving his community, holding several leadership positions.
