SOYAN is a network of parents, caregivers, providers, and self-advocates supporting young adults as they navigate their community and embark on the journey of a self-determined life with the support of OPWDD.

Partner Gregory L. Matalon to Present the Howard J. Capell Award for Exceptional Service at Quality Services for the Autism Community 40th Anniversary Gala @ The Lighthouse at Chelsea Piers

CBMS is pleased to continue its support of Quality Services for the Autism Community (QSAC). The firm will celebrate QSAC’s 40th Anniversary of service to the community at their annual Gala, as Gold sponsors of the event. This year’s theme is Believe, and partner Gregory L. Matalon will have the honor of speaking and presenting the Howard J. Capell Award for Exceptional Service to honoree Larry Litwack, Esq.

This award honors the memory of founding partner Howard J. Capell, (December 31, 2017). Howie was a dedicated humanitarian and philanthropist and had served on the QSAC Board of Directors. Award recipient Larry Litwack, a current board member of QSAC, has dedicated his time to make a significant difference in the lives of adults and children with autism.

Award presenter Gregory L. Matalon is a partner in the firm’s Estate Planning & Administration group who is committed to serving his community, holding several leadership positions.

Partner Yvonne Cort to present at NYU School of Professional Studies 10th Annual Tax Controversy Forum @ The Crowne Plaza Times Square Manhattan

Partner Yvonne Cort has been invited to participate in the NYU 10th Annual Tax Controversy Forum, a two-day conference of problem solving featuring representatives of the Internal Revenue Service and New York State.  She will be a featured speaker on a panel titled “New York State Tax Enforcement Updates- Residency Audits, Driver’s License Suspension and the Search for Ghost Preparers”, discussing New York State programs that are likely to become the model for other states tax administrators, including driver’s license suspensions, residency audits, and NYS DTF’s regulation of preparers and ghost preparers.

Ms. Cort focuses her practice on resolving Federal and New York State tax controversies. She assists clients with tax matters including New York State and New York City residency audits, unfiled returns, income tax, sales tax, withholding tax, responsible person assessments, liens and levies, innocent spouse, voluntary disclosure, installment agreements and offers in compromise. She is a regular speaker for several professional groups in New York and an accomplished author whose articles are frequently published in accounting and legal publications.
